Raymi Echavarria Fernandez

Raymi is an advocate for economic justice and its intersection with racial, education, and gender justice. Before attending Harvard, she worked as an associate in the human rights program at the Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute. Previously, she provided college matriculation and retention counseling to students in East New York, Brooklyn, and designed training for peer-mentors in the college access space across New York City. She serves on the board of UnLocal, an organization providing legal representation and community education to New York City’s undocumented immigrant community. She is currently involved in tax policy reform projects and creating safe spaces for undocumented families in schools. Raymi graduated magna cum laude from Hunter College with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and interdisciplinary studies and a certificate in public policy, with a concentration in education policy. She was born in the Dominican Republic and grew up in New York City.
