Okechi studied biology and global health at Duke University and contributed to local and international health research and intervention program in Latin America. Before medical school, he was awarded a Fulbright research grant to study food security and child health in Quito, Ecuador. At HMS, he has co-created and led community health and youth empowerment. He recently co-founded the Pediatric Community Advocacy Program, an initiative to empower and teach BIPOC youth in the greater Boston area about health justice and advocacy. Okechi is driven to develop equitable health systems through health innovation and policy advocacy, globally.
