Lane Kantor
Lane is a medical student at UCLA, where they are pursuing a career with the goal of improving the health and well-being of the transgender and broader LGBTQIA2S community. Prior to medical school, they graduated cum laude from Brown University with a Bachelor of Science in neurobiology. Throughout their clinical training and experiences as a former EMT, they have continuously witnessed the healthcare system failing transgender people, particularly those who experience compounded inequities from white supremacy, colonialism, and globalized capitalism. They were recently elected student chair of the World Professional Association of Transgender Health, where they are advocating for fewer financial and social barriers for accessing transgender health information. Through their medical training and the study of public health at Harvard T.H. Chan, they hope to combine clinical practice, health disparities research, and health policy advocacy to work towards racial, social, and economic justice for the LGBTQIA2S community.
