- Josh Bekenstein is a Managing Director of Bain Capital, a leading global private investment firm based in Boston.
- Josh helped start Bain Capital in 1984 with a number of colleagues from Bain & Company, the management consulting firm. Since then, Bain Capital has grown to more than 900 people and has made private equity investments and add-ons in more than 350 companies across a variety of industries.
- In addition, the firm has expanded into several other asset classes and currently manages several pools of capital including private equity, venture capital, non investment grade debt, a long/short equity hedge fund and a market neutral macro hedge fund. The firm has approximately $80 billion in assets under management.
Josh serves as a board member of Bob’s Discount Furniture, Bombardier Recreational Products, Bright Horizons Family Solutions, Burlington Stores, Canada Goose, Dollarama, Gymboree, Michaels Stores, Sundial Brands, Toys R Us, TOMS, and Waters Corporation. In his not for profit work, he chairs the Board of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and serves on the board of New Profit Inc., City Year, the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) and the Yale Corporation. Josh holds a B.A. from Yale and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School. He lives in Wayland, Massachusetts and he and his wife, Anita, have five children, between the ages of 20 and 28.
