Itamar got his start as an economist at the Ministry of Finance in Israel and now serves as the head of the monetary analysis unit in the research department of the Bank of Israel. He is also an adjunct lecturer at the Hebrew University. His research on core monetary policy issues helped shape the Bank of Israel’s policymaking and has been published in peer-reviewed academic journals. In 2018, he was elected to represent the bank as a research fellow for three months at the Bank for International Settlements in Switzerland. He holds a BA in economics from Ben-Gurion University, where he graduated summa cum laude, an MA in economics from the joint research program at the Hebrew University and Tel-Aviv University, and a PhD in economics from Bar-Ilan University. He lives in Givatayim, Israel, and is married and the father of three children.
