Howaida Barakat

Howaida has twenty years of professional experience as a public servant in the Egyptian government and as a consultant for international donors involved in development for the Arab region. She holds a Doctorate of Business Administration from the Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport and a master’s degree in international business administration from the Ecole Supérieure Libre des Sciences Commerciales Appliquées. A 2006 Fulbright scholar at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University, she has published research in international development, including a United Nations University Institute for Natural Resources in Africa research and policy brief on green job opportunities in Egypt. Howaida was named among the fifty most influential women in Egypt in 2020 for her contributions to the country’s development strategy.
