Gilbert grew up between New York City, the Dominican Republic, and Miami, Florida. He spent the past four years as an organizer, organizing director, and deputy director for Engage Miami, a local youth organizing nonprofit, and is proud to have been a part of developing the organization’s voter engagement, leadership development, and advocacy programs. He helped register over 20,000 young voters, brought early voting to college campuses in Miami-Dade County, and brought about a more inclusive and participatory budgetary process. Gilbert graduated magna cum laude with degrees in political science and quantitative economics from Tufts University in 2016. In 2020, he was selected as one of Miami’s Next Leaders.
