A son of low-income Central American immigrants, David graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California, where he co-founded Community Health Connection, a group that organizes health fairs in medically underserved areas of Los Angeles. Prior to starting the joint degree program at Harvard, he served on the legislative committee of the Massachusetts Medical Society, created a partnership between New England’s largest Spanish news outlet and Harvard Medical School, and worked on a hospital initiative to improve healthcare delivery for persons experiencing homelessness. During his first year at the Kennedy School, he advocated for marginalized communities through writing, researched healthcare delivery innovation, and interned with MassHealth. He currently works with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and GOTVax, a grassroots organization focused on delivering COVID-19 vaccines to communities of color.
