Charles Meire

Charles is a native Virginian and served as a Signal Corps officer in the Virginia Army National Guard. He was most recently activated in the National Capital Region in response to the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and has supported the Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate, managing aviation security research and development projects. He also works with advocacy groups such as Social Action Linking Together and Assisting Families of Inmates to identify legislative strategies for reforming and humanizing the prison system in Virginia. He previously interned at Senator Mark Warner’s office and the Stimson Center, where he researched coercive diplomacy. He received his BA in international studies from the Virginia Military Institute, where he was an academic and military distinguished graduate.
