Master in Public Policy Candidate & Master in Business Administration Candidate, 2022
Akhil was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. His parents, Indian immigrants, imbued him with a sense of patriotism from a young age. While attending Stanford University, Akhil joined the Naval Officer Training Corps (ROTC), where he was exposed to the civil-military divide and the role that ROTC students could have in helping to bridge that gap. He graduated with a BA in international relations and with Honors in international security studies. Akhil was commissioned as a Marine Corps officer and served as an Infantry and Special Operations Officer—Marine Raider. His deployment experiences leading a special operations team sparked his interest in the intersection between technology and national security. He is currently pursuing a career in venture capital, seeking to accelerate public-private cooperation in national security. Akhil is a 2019 Pat Tillman Foundation Scholar and a 2020 recipient of a Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans.
