Field Experience Trip to the United Arab Emirates
Government Innovation and Public Policy: Gender Inclusion and the Future of Work
The Center for Public Leadership (CPL) and the Middle East Initiative (MEI) of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs are organizing an intensive field visit to the United Arab Emirates from January 19 – 27, 2019 for a cohort of Harvard Kennedy School students. Students will depart Boston on Saturday night, January 19, and return to Boston on Sunday, January 27, 2019. This year's theme will be Government Innovation and Public Policy: Gender Inclusion and the Future of Work. The UAE is ranked first among Arab countries and 35th worldwide in the Global Innovation Index.
The field experience itinerary will include meeting with the UAE’s Prime Minister’s Office, Smart Government initiative, and other high-profile government officials, in addition to exploring the UAE’s many innovative endeavors, with specific emphasis on the themes of women’s empowerment and the country’s work towards a new economy that integrates future technologies. The field experience trip will also include academic discussions, engagement with local HKS alumni, cultural visits, and sightseeing.
Interested students must submit a completed application form along with a resume or curriculum vitae and personal statement.

- An information session for the field experience visit will be held at 4:00pm on Wednesday, September 12, in the Littauer Building, Room 163.
