Instructions & Application Form

The Center for Public Leadership (CPL) and the Middle East Initiative (MEI) of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs launched the Emirates Leadership Initiative, the goal of which is to: provide advanced training in management and leadership development to emerging leaders from the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East; engage in research of importance to the region; and enrich the intellectual community at HKS and beyond.

The Emirates Leadership Initiative is hosting an intensive field visit to the United Arab Emirates from January 13 – 21, 2018 for several Harvard Kennedy School students. This trip is fully and generously funded by the Emirates Leadership Initiative. HKS students with demonstrated experience in innovation within the government, NGO, or private sectors are eligible to apply. The itinerary will include meeting with the UAE’s Prime Minister’s Office, Smart Government initiative, and other high-profile government officials, in addition to exploring the UAE’s many innovative endeavors, such as the use of drones to improve government services and the first round-the-world flight powered by solar energy. The field experience trip will also include academic discussions, engagement with local HKS alumni, cultural visits, and sightseeing.

 What does the trip entail?
