"Construal and the Conceptualization of Competing Priorities: Implications for managing risk and safety"

After providing a brief context in terms of prior research, David Hofmann will discuss several new projects connecting psychological construal and safety/risk. The first two projects manipulate psychological construal (whether events appear imminent or distant in terms of time or physical space), and investigate the implications for how people conceptualize safety and risk. The next two projects are focused on the prioritization of competing goals among frontline nurses. The talk will conclude with a discussion of the implications for leadership.
