Program Overview

Behavioral Insights Group (BIG) is launching a mentoring program this summer for Harvard students and alumni interested in building behavioral design teams for public good within their governments and nonprofit organizations. The program will pair participants with Faculty Coaches and function as an incubator.

Through coaching and workshops, the program will build the participants’ capacity to establish behavioral design teams in their organizations that will leverage systems design thinking, behavioral insights, and innovative adaptive leadership frameworks in order to design more effective policies, programs, and services for complex social issues.

Faculty Coaches:
Michael Norton

FAQ:
Who can apply?

Current Harvard students and Alumni interested in building behavioral design teams within their governments and nonprofit organizations for public good can apply. Please note that the application is competitive, and we expect to receive more applications than there are spots available. We hope to offer this program again in the future depending on the demand and success of the pilot.

What do I need to include in my application?
In the application survey below, you should include your CV and a brief description of what you want to develop during the mentoring program. (Note: all ideas will be kept confidential; we will use these solely for the purpose of aligning student and faculty interests.)

What are the requirements?
As part of the program, which runs from August through December, participants will meet with their Faculty Coaches on a monthly basis and attend approximately six mandatory workshops to learn more about establishing behavioral design teams and create their own development strategy. Successful applicants must be able to fully commit to the program. The estimated time commitment is roughly 10 hours/month. (Note: Due to COVID-19, the workshop dates will be scheduled later this summer and may be subject to change. Interested applicants should be flexible.)

When will I know about the outcome of my application?
The deadline to apply is July 10, 2020, and you will hear from us about the outcome of your application during the week of July 20.
