Running for Office: A Conversation with Eric Lesser, Massachusetts State Senator

Date:

Thursday, March 23, 2017, 5:00pm to 6:00pm

Location:

Darman Room (T-135)

Senator Eric Lesser

Interested in running for office? Want to learn more about the nuts and bolts of a campaign? Then join us for a conversation with an experienced campaigner and Massachusetts State Senator Eric Lesser. Prior to winning his seat, Lesser started his career as a Ground Logistics Coordinator during the 2008 Obama presidential campaign. He went on to serve as Special Assistant to David Axelrod and was later Director of Strategic Planning for President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers. Lesser won his state senate seat in 2014 and was re-elected in 2016, representing the towns of First Hampden, MA and Hampshire, MA.

Senator Lesser will discuss the process of deciding to run for office, developing a campaign strategy, and how he crafted a public identity while staying true to his moral compass throughout the campaign. The conversation will be moderated by CPL Zuckerman Fellow Samantha Joseph (MPA '17), who currently leads a student group of military veterans interested in running for office.

This event will be open to the public, and will be held in the Darman Room (Taubman Building). For questions, please email cpl_events@hks.harvard.edu.
